Here's hoping I do more than a few pages, as per my other blogs!!
Arrived safely in Sydney. Went to the 'Spiders Live and Deadly' exhibition at the Museum. Heaps of school & preschool kids there, so the noise was fairly loud. Enjoyed watching their reactions to the various displays - up close & personal with the creepy creatures.
Watched one of the scientists 'bleed' a spider (don't know what sort). It's amazing what they can do with the venom - painkillers, can't remember what else! They are also looking at using the silk from the webs in surgery, particularly cardiac surgery. Makes you look at spiders differently, don't you think?!!
Had lunch at the restaurant on the top floor of the Museum. Fabulous weather, so great views of the city & harbour.
Bit of R & R after we checked into the hotel, then off to find some dinner.
Ended up at the Three Wise Monkeys, a pub on the corner of Liverpool & George Sts. On the outside of the building is sculpted 'Bank of Australia', but no date of construction. Inside, it's like the old fashioned banks - mezzanine floor, steps up to another floor, & so on; the higher your floor the more important you are! Anyway, a very busy pub; lots of atmosphere, foreign bartenders, good music, and patrons.
Will try for some photos now!!
